Are You Looking For A Family?

When Jacob awoke, he said, “This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven” (Genesis 28:17). That is the heartbeat of The Gate Church: a people gathered so that heaven touches earth. We exist for the Kingdom of God on earth through revival as we host His Presence, through power as we release our faith and His Spirit to impact lives, and through love as we meet people at their point of need and bring God’s answer. For years we have welcomed everyone who joins us as family. We now invite those who call this house their home to take the next step and become members in a clear, official way.

Membership is not a club. It is a joyful, public “yes” to belonging here, to being known, shepherded, and committed as we host His presence together. If you have found a spiritual home among us, we invite you to stand with this family at the gate of heaven. Membership helps us love one another more faithfully, helps our leaders care for the flock God has given them, and puts Christ’s alternative rule on display for a watching world. Read the reasons below, pray about it, and then let us know you are ready to say, “This is my church family.”

Helps Leaders

It helps Christian leaders lead. Membership lets our leaders know which believers they will “give an account” for before God (Acts 20:28; 1 Peter 5:2). Shepherds cannot faithfully watch over a flock they cannot identify.

Helps Everyone Stay Accountable

It enables church discipline. Membership gives us the biblically prescribed place to practice loving, wise, and responsible church discipline when it is needed (1 Corinthians 5)

Structure To Christian Life

It gives structure to the Christian life. It places our claim to “obey” and “follow” Jesus into a real-life setting where spiritual authority is actually exercised over us (John 14:15; 1 John 2:19; 4:20–21)

Stewardship

Membership also makes us stewards of the house we belong to, the house of God and the gate of heaven, so that we care for what God has entrusted to this family, not merely attend it (1 Corinthians 4:1–2; 1 Peter 4:10)
Builds a Witness
It builds a witness and invites the nations. Membership puts the alternative rule of Christ on display for the watching universe (Matthew 5:13; John 13:34–35; Ephesians 3:10; 1 Peter 2:9–12). The boundaries drawn around a church create a distinct people who invite others into the Kingdom of God on earth
Called To Assemble
We are called to assemble together. The church is a people who gather; that gathering cannot happen in isolation (Hebrews 10:25; Ephesians 2:19–22). Revival, power, and love flow as we come together as the house of God.
Ministry Flows When
Ministry flows when the church comes together. The gifts and ministries of the body are meant to operate as we meet (1 Corinthians 14:26).
We are to know those who labor among us. Membership helps us recognize, honor, and follow the leaders God has placed over us (1 Thessalonians 5:12)
Blessing Flows
Blessing flows from unity under Godly leadership. “It is like the precious oil on the head, running down on the beard… For there the Lord has commanded the blessing, life forevermore” (Psalm 133)
